Amenities
Elements of comfort that can be available to the client in the event space. Amenities can include extra chairs, tables, wifi, etc., and may or may not be included in the room rental fee.
Art gallery
A spacious and uncluttered space used to exhibit works of art on an ephemeral or permanent basis.
Auditorium
Large and ample space at the entrance of a building known for its acoustic capacity.
Banquet
Organized event simultaneously integrating a sit down meal.
BEO (Banquet Event Order)
Pre-arranged order for a group dinner; including choice of appetizer, meal, dessert and alcohol.
Bites
Perfectly chosen appetizers for a happy hour, served in small sizes for easy serving and tasting.
Buffet
Menu prepared ahead of time, available on a table so guests can help themselves at his or her convenience.
Business Center
Office building designed for colleagues and work meetings.
Central Reservation System (CRS)
Software that centralizes and manages a company's entire reservation process.
Christmas party
A festive celebration to commence the start of the holiday season. It can be organized with family, friends or even colleagues.
Cocktail
Specialty cocktails, served in a glass.
Cocktail hour or Cocktail party
Cocktail hour type of event where alcoholic drinks and appetizers can be served to guests who are often standing around tall tables. Typically used for social or professional networking purposes.
Colloquium
Organized meeting to discuss specific topics.
Congress
An organized event featuring a program that includes conferences, meetings and exhibits on various subjects grouped under the same theme.
Convention
Event aimed at addressing a specific topic and communicating a message to employees.
Corkage Charge
A policy allowing restaurateurs and/or caterers to charge a fee for each bottle of liquor brought in by the customer
Cutoff Date
Deadline for making a decision regarding dates and event spaces. After this pre-established period, it is too late.

F&B (Food and beverage)

Assigned seating for guests at an event location.
Floor Plan
Detailed illustration providing an overview of the event space, including measurements and different specifications such as electrical outlets, furniture, etc.
Gala
An evening featuring an awards ceremony that includes dinner, performances and dancing.
HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface)
Wire and plug to connect a video or audio output to a screen (computer, projector...).
LCD
In Quebec, liquid crystal display, or LCD, can be found in low-power flat-panel displays.
Lead
Requests for service or interest in a business from a potential client.
Liquor permit

Livestream
Means of communication for simultaneously broadcasting images or videos on the internet.
Loft
Local spaces that were previously used for professional purposes which are now used for events or lodging. A large, open space which can be adapted to the often industrial or modern style wishes of the client.
Low Season
Specific time of the year that is typically less busy for businesses and organizations.
Low season rates
Usually the most competitive pricing of the year because of less demand. Example: low season rate. This rate will be the most competitive of the year because there is little demand during this period. ''Outside school holidays' can be considered as an off-peak period in the hotel industry.

Organized meeting whose purpose is to discuss one or more specific subjects.

Minimum charge to be able to reserve a place.

Described as a turnkey service, featuring the complete organization of an event.
Unique venue
Unique and rarely used special location for an event.
